Intro to Indigo Dyeing Workshop $100

  • The Carver Room at Old Salt Marketplace 5027 Northeast 42nd Avenue Portland, OR, 97218 United States (map)

In this hands on workshop we will focus on the basic process of hand dyeing using an indigo vat. Local fiber artist, Taylor Nehrling, will teach Shibori techniques including folded, tied, and clamped resists. Each student will receive a set of 4 cotton napkins and 2 tea towels to try their hand at the technique. Students are also encouraged to bring 3-4 pieces of natural fiber clothing/fabric to experiment with as well.

Dyeing with indigo can be a messy process. Please dress accordingly in clothing and shoes that can get stained.

Wine and snacks will be provided.
