In this 3.5 hour class you'll learn the basics of weaving on a simple wooden frame loom from Portland artist Natalie Novak. During the workshop we'll weave shapes, create texture and fringe using colorful, natural yarns and fibers. We'll also cover basic terms and techniques to help unravel the mysteries of weaving. Everyone will leave with their own complete woven wall hanging!
If you don't want the weaving to stop at the end of the workshop you can add a loom kit to take home with you. ($65). Kits include:
-A handmade wooden Hokett loom. (Looms measure approximately 9 x 10 inches. Jim Hokett calls this his "intermediate" size.)
-A complete set of weaving tools: comb/fork, shed stick and needles.
-Enough warp string for your next few projects.
-An illustrated instruction booklet with everything we learned in class.
-A selection of yarns to start weaving with. Your choice!
Space is limited to allow for individual instruction. Wine and snacks provided!
